Independent Provider (IP) Peer Network Program

PCG, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM), is excited to announce the launch of our Independent Provider (IP) Peer Network Program!

This new initiative is a virtual community for actively enrolled Independent Providers who provide Personal Care Aide, Home Care Attendant, or Home Health Nursing serving individuals on the Ohio Home Care or MyCare Ohio Waiver. It was developed in direct response to feedback received from participants in our IP Mentorship Program who expressed a strong interest in having more opportunities to engage with one another, exchange practical strategies, and build a sense of community. The IP Peer Networks were designed to meet that need—offering a consistent space for peer connection, shared learning, and mutual support.

Through the IP Peer Networks, independent providers can come together to share real-world experiences, discuss common challenges, explore best practices, and gain valuable insights into policies and practices that impact your work. Whether you're looking to stay informed, build your skills, or feel more supported as a provider, the IP Peer Networks are here to help you learn, grow, and thrive—together.

What You’ll Gain from the Peer Networks

Connect. Learn. Grow.

Whether you're new to independent provider work or have years of experience, the IP Peer Networks are designed to help you build real, lasting connections with others doing the same work across Ohio. These sessions are your chance to learn from others, share your voice, and strengthen your impact.

Two Ways to Engage—Tailored to You

Choose the format that fits your needs:

  • Knowledge Networks offer expert guidance, key updates, and best practices to help you stay informed and confident in your responsibilities. These sessions focus on key updates to ODM rules and day-to-day responsibilities.

  • Talk Times are relaxed, peer-driven conversations focused on mutual support, shared experiences, and real talk about the provider journey. Talk Time will usually follow the same theme as the month’s Knowledge Network topic, but every conversation is shaped by the people in the room, so no two sessions are exactly the same!

We encourage providers to attend one Knowledge Network and one Talk Time meet-up each month to get the most out of the program.

Flexible, Interactive, and Designed for You

We know your schedule is busy. That’s why sessions are offered at multiple times and feature interactive elements like breakout rooms, live polls, and group chats to keep things lively and practical.

Join a Statewide Community

By joining these sessions, you’re not just gaining skills—you’re joining a supportive community of peers who understand your work. This is a great opportunity to feel more connected and confident in your role.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the Peer Network Program?

The Peer Network Program is an opportunity for you to connect with other Independent Providers, share experiences, exchange ideas, and gain insights into key topics that impact your work. This program was inspired by input from Mentees and Mentors who have participated in the IP Mentorship Program. Participants in the program valued the monthly meetings to gather virtually with other providers who understood their work and were able to share their own resources and experiences of success. Our goal with the peer network program is to allow IPs the same opportunity for learning, building community and sharing of resources.

Who can join Peer Network meetings?

Peer Network meetings are designed for Independent Providers who provide Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) administered services through the Ohio Home Care Waiver, MyCare Plan Waiver or Private Duty Nursing.  The information we share during knowledge meetings will be specific to these services and not necessarily applicable to DODD or ODA administered waivers.

Why do I need to register? Why do you need my contact information?

Registration helps us manage attendance, especially since space may be limited. We collect your email to send you the meeting invitation, your county so we can group you with participants from your area, and your phone number in case you join by phone instead of computer. Your personal information will not be shared unless you ask us to.

Will you answer my specific question during the meeting?

When you register, you’ll have the chance to submit any questions related to the meeting topic. While the general session will focus on the main topic and may not address unrelated questions, the breakout rooms are a great space to connect with other Independent Providers who might be able to help. Please remember to follow HIPAA guidelines and avoid sharing any client-specific information.

How do I join the peer network meeting in TEAMS?

Can I call into the meeting?

We recommend joining by computer or another electronic device so you can view the presentation and take part in polls or reactions. However, you can also join by phone. The call-in number and required Phone Conference ID will be included in your meeting invitation.

How many meetings should I attend?

We recommend that you attend a knowledge meeting each month and at least one talk-time meeting. You may attend all meetings if you would like but both knowledge meetings in the month will contain the same material. Each talk-time meeting will vary, depending on what other providers attend and what people decide they would like to talk about during the small group sessions.
