Independent Provider (IP) Mentorship Program

Public Consulting Group (PCG), in partnership with the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM), has developed an Independent Provider (IP) Mentorship Program aimed at supporting both newly enrolled providers (including those who have been providers for three years or less) as they establish their business and existing providers who could use extra support. Over the past two years, 68 providers have participated in this program as mentees or mentors and have shared how it has positively impacted their personal and professional lives.

96% of mentee survey respondents report meeting their goals for the program.

Mentor participants report 100% satisfaction with PCG support.

100% of surveyed participants recommended the program to others.

“The mentorship program has improved my leadership and communication skills and also helped me develop better patience and adaptability. Overall, being a mentor has been a deeply enriching experience that has not only benefited my mentee but has also significantly contributed to my development and satisfaction.” – Mentor Participant

“My favorite part of the program is being able to have another provider to communicate with…I no longer feel alone in this field.” – Mentee Participant

Inspired by this success, we’re excited to continue the program and keep supporting providers!

Program Details

The Independent Provider Mentorship Program is a voluntary 16-week experience that aims to support both newly enrolled providers (including those who have been providers for three years or less) as they establish their business and existing providers who could use extra support. These types of providers will serve as mentees.

Mentees will be matched with mentors, more experienced providers, who will share their lessons learned, provide advice on improving service delivery, and demonstrate how to simplify the responsibilities of being a self-employed provider in good standing.

During this program, mentors and mentees will establish goals, meet weekly, work towards new skills, and reflect upon growth by completing monthly surveys. Overall, mentors will focus on the mentee’s desired professional development, including, but not limited to the following growth areas:

  • Billing for Services

  • Career Growth

  • Documenting Services

  • Identifying Members to Serve

  • Professionalism

  • Reporting to the Case Manager

We anticipate mentors and mentees will dedicate a minimum of 6 hours each month to this program. Monthly engagement may vary by participant.

Applications

Applications for the IP Mentorship Program are currently closed. Please check back here and look out for our program announcement email in early February for the next opportunity to apply!

Mentor Stipend

In thanks for the commitment and guidance provided by mentors, mentor participants will be eligible for four (4) stipends of $350 throughout the program. Eligibility for this payment depends on the satisfactory completion of all program requirements for that period, including conducting weekly mentor-mentee meetings, attending monthly mentor check-in meetings with PCG, and completing required training, surveys, and other program activities.

We hope this program continues to provide both mentors and mentees a fulfilling experience that supports providers in building successful and long-standing careers as in-home service providers. Thank you for considering this opportunity and we look forward to reviewing your application!
