HIPAA and Security: Risk Management when using AI and Technology - 2025 Annual Training Verification Form

As part of PCG’s contract with the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM), we are required to conduct annual training for all staff working on the OH HCBS project. Please view this training by 6/19/2025.

 

Course Overview

HIPAA is a federal law that sets standards to ensure that protected health information (PHI) stays confidential and secure.  The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming ever more popular, and it can pose a significant threat to the security of PHI.  In this course we will review HIPAA and security rules; define a breach and what to do if one occurs; describe the fundamentals of safe AI and computer use; and review examples of how to ensure HIPAA compliance in work and everyday life situations.  

Learning Objectives 

Participants will be able to:  

  • Examine HIPAA regulations 

  • Describe the fundamentals of safe artificial intelligence (AI) use 

  • Summarize the threats to protected health information 

  • Recognize a breach and the steps for reporting one
