October 31, 2017 - Be heard: Complete the Statewide Needs Assessment Survey

The Ohio Department of Aging is conducting the 2017 Statewide Needs Assessment Survey to collect Ohioans' opinions and better understand what matters most to our residents. Perspectives shared through the survey will be combined and put to immediate use as we draft Ohio's 2019-2022 State Plan on Aging. The four-year State Plan will guide the programs and services for Ohio's older adults.

October 3, 2017 - It is time to register for Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) training

It is time to register for Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) training. At least one representative of your agency must complete all required training to receive your login credentials to the Sandata system. You will need credentials to input your Direct Care Workers’ and individuals’ data into the system. If your agency operates with multiple provider numbers, you must satisfy training requirements for each provider number. The information below will help you select the training option that best meets your needs. Registration will open for all courses on October 2.

Changes to the Transitions Carve Out Waiver

Beginning February 1, 2015 and ending no later than June 30, 2015; Individuals enrolled on the Transitions Carve Out Waiver will be moving over to the Passport/Choices waivers. Providers who serve these individuals will need go through the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) certification process. Please go to the following website with questions about ODA certification:

In-Person Training for Home and Community Based Waiver Providers

Public Consulting Group (PCG), on behalf of the Ohio Department of Medicaid, conducts in-person trainings around the State. The locations rotate month to month, so if any of the current trainings being offered are not near you, please check back as PCG will be adding new locations every couple of months. This training is not mandatory but it is recommended. The training is a high level overview of several Ohio Administrative Codes that govern the Waiver program. Topics include: Criminal Record Background Checks, Provider Conditions of Participation, Provider-Type-Specific Requirements, Developing Clinical Records, Provider Billing, Structural Reviews, and Incident Management & Reporting. So, whether you’re new to the Ohio Home Care Waiver program, or simply looking to refresh your knowledge, this is training is for you!

**Continuing Education Credits Offered


PCG is an approved provider for Social Work CE credit by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist (CSWMFT) Board. Provider #RSX071403. The Ohio Board of Nursing recognizes the State of Ohio CSWMFT Board as an approved provider of CNE for multi-disciplinary activities. Attendees must sign in on time and remain for the entire session to receive a certificate of attendance. This program is approved for 2 CEs per the CSWMFT Board.


Home Health Aides will also receive 2 hours of continuing education towards the 12 hours required each year.


Online Mandatory Provider Training

This notice is to inform all providers of services to individuals on an Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) home and community-based services waiver of mandatory training on incident management. An "incident" is an alleged, suspected or actual event that is not consistent with the routine care of, and/or service delivery to, an individual enrolled on an ODM waiver.


To complete this requirement, providers have the option to view the training at: Agencies also may choose to train their employees in a different manner. Regardless of how providers complete this training, they must document in writing that they have reviewed the rule.


In addition, upon entering into a Medicaid provider agreement, and annually thereafter, all providers must acknowledge in writing they have reviewed Ohio Administrative Code Rule 5160-45-05 Ohio department of Medicaid (ODM)-administered waiver program: incident management system, which can be found at

Public Consulting Group (PCG) and its PCG Health division have partnered with the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) to provide Provider Oversight and Incident Management for its Home and Community-Based Services Waiver programs, the Ohio Home Care Waiver. PCG enrolls waiver providers, conducts provider oversight as well as incident investigations in coordination with providers, case management agencies, local agencies, and the many state sister agencies of ODM.
